S. Marković graduated the history of art and comparative literature in 1979, at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Zagreb. She received her master's degree in 1989, from the History of Art Department of the same Faculty. Her MA thesis was entitled Ćiril Metod Iveković, Architect and Conservator.

Between 1980 and the end of 1990, she worked as curator and manager of the Antun Augustinčić Gallery in Klanjec. She initiated and edited the Yearbook (10 issues). She authored the Catalogue of the permanent exhibition as well as the interior and the exterior exhibition of the Antun Augustinčić Gallery in 1990; she furthermore co-authored the sculpture park.
Since 1991, S. Marković has held the post of the Head of the Department of Prints and Drawings of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts. She organised the working premises and the depot functionally as well as introduced new norms of publishing. Furthermore, she initiated and maintains material digitalisation, with the aim of both preventing the holdings and presenting them on the web. Moreover, she established the Chalcographic workshop and started publishing print maps. She initiated and conceived the Croatian Drawings Triennial (1996) and the Croatian Prints Triennial (1997).
S. Marković took part in a number of scientific symposia in the fields of the history of art and the museology. Since 1998, S. Marković has held the post of museum counsellor.

S. Marković is a member of international juries as well as the Croatian selector and author of texts included in catalogues of international drawings and prints exhibitions (Zagreb, Ljubljana, Rijeka, Prague and Novo Mesto). She collaborates with the international prints-related periodical Grapheion and the Croatian prints-related periodical Grafika.
She authored drawings and printss exhibitions and wrote introductions (Slavko Šohaj, Dušan Džamonja, Edo Murtić, Nevenka Arbanas, Ivan Lesiak, Branko Suhy, Edo Kovačević etc.) as well as monographs (Ćiril Metod Iveković, 1992; Slavko Šohaj, 2001; Vanja Radauš, 2005).

S. Marković edited all the catalogues published so far (between 1991 and 2006) and eleven digital multimedia interactive editions of the Department of Prints and Drawings.
She was awarded the Antun Augustinčić medal in 1986.
In 1997, she was decorated with the Danica hrvatska Order with the image of Marko Marulić for exceptional merits in the culture of the Republic of Croatia.
S. Marković is a member of the Croatian Association of Art Historians (DPUH) and of the International Committee of Museums (ICOM).
